snippet: This interactive map displays data from the 1994 report California Low-Temperature Geothermal Resources Update, which compiled previously published chemical data for California geothermal systems. Before interpreting the data, users should refer to the original cited publication(s) for detailed metadata about methods of sample collection and chemical analysis. Reviewing the original publications helps avoid propagating transcription errors from the 1994 compilation. Verifying the values for each sample against their original source publications was beyond the scope of this web map.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy through subcontract #1092-023 (R) with the Oregon Institute of Technology, Geo-Heat Center, the report summarized sampling efforts on thermal waters across California from the 1960s through 1980s. It provided an important inventory of these previous studies and a valuable snapshot of California’s geothermal systems. The California Geological Survey converted the 1994 report’s data into this interactive web map to increase awareness and accessibility of this historical data. A complete copy of the report can be obtained through our website  https://www.conservation.ca.gov/.

This interactive map displays data from the 1994 report California Low-Temperature Geothermal Resources Update, which compiled previously published chemical data for California geothermal systems.
