Description: The California parcel dataset, licensedfrom Digital Map Products, Inc. by the California Department of Technology, was processed by California Geological Survey’s (CGS) Seismic Hazards Program (SHP) to determine if a parcel is within an earthquake fault zone, liquefaction zone, and/or landslide zone. The parcels were analyzed using the official boundaries for Alquist-Priolo Earthquake Fault Zones, which delineate areas where there is a higher potential for damaging permanent ground displacements from surface fault rupture. For information regarding the scope and recommended methods to be used in conducting required site investigations, see California Geological Survey Special Publication 42, Fault-Rupture Hazard Zones in California, A Guide for Government Agencies, Geoscience Practitioners, and Property Owners/Developers. Parcels were also analyzed using official boundaries for Seismic Hazard Zones, which delineate areas where there is a higher potential for damaging permanent ground displacements from liquefaction and earthquake-induced landslides during a strong earthquake. For information regarding the scope and recommended methods to be used in conducting the required site investigations, see California Geological Survey Special Publication 117A, Guidelines for Evaluating and Mitigating Seismic Hazards in California. Parcels which are found in areas yet to be evaluated by the SHP for seismic hazards have also been identified within the processing of these data.
